Director/Animator: TONY WHITE

Tony White directed and animated 'THANK YOU STAN' as his own personal tribute to the late, great soccer player, Sir Stanley Matthews. The film took two years to create - primarily in Tony's spare time, outside of a full-time teaching commitment. Tony has always been primarily interested in evolving his own docu-mation style of animated short filmmaking, yet still hopes to create original, ground-breaking movies. Indeed, a progression of "THANK YOU STAN" is the creation of a unique and far more ambitious movie project, "SPIRIT OF THE GAME", featuring Stan as a wise and mentoring ghost who helps a troubled and talented young teenage player realize his own 'David Beckham-style' potential!

Tony's career: The Studio years:

Tony ran his own London studio, Animus Productions, for 20 years, until he closed it to move to the USA to live and teach in 1998. During his studio years, Tony was responsible for over 200 TV commercials, 2 TV Specials, several short films and the awarded opening title sequence for "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" movie. His proudest moment however was to win a BAFTA award for his first ever animated short film, "HOKUSAI ~ An Animated Sketchbook". Here is a short compilation of just some of the many and varied, hand-crafted animation projects Tony was responsible for - many of them winning awards around the world.

Tony's career: The Teaching years:

Tony has been teaching at the top level in the USA since 2001. During that time he has guided over 100 students to reach a degree graduation level, while at the same time encouraging them to work with him on his varied short film project. He is currently director and architect of the Academy of Interactive Entertainment's "Skills Center" program in Seattle. One of Tony's teaching related projects was an animated logo sequence for Seattle's SIFF 'Fly Film Challenge' initiative. This short film-based adaptation of  that, "REVENGE OF THE FLY" has since graced many film festivals across the USA, despite its brevity.
Tony's career: The Writing years:

Tony is a prolific author and has written many respected books on animation. His first ever book, "The Animator's Workbook", has been used throughout the world as an essential textbook on animation by countless animators and colleges when learning or teaching the basics of the artform. The book has sold over 80,000 copies worldwide. Other books on animation by Tony have been translated into several languages and each advances the knowledge and the process of the art-form significantly. Tony's purpose in writing so prolifically is to bring a solid and reliable understanding of the animation process to individuals everywhere - but particularly to those who are not able to find a personal mentor, or afford a course of formal education.

Tony's career: Keeping 2D animation alive:

Although respectful and knowledgeable on all forms of animation, Tony has never lost his great passion for the traditional, hand-crafted art-form of animation and continues promote 2D animation whenever he can. At a recent CTN Expo event in Los Angeles he established the '2D Liberation Movement' as a response to the lack of interest in traditionally animated films in Hollywood and spends most of his own resources in developing ground-breaking movie projects that he still hopes to find support for one day. "SPIRIT OF THE GAME" - the development out of this "THANK YOU STAN" project - is currently ready to go, subject to funding! Scripts are available on request.
